Earthly Remains Antiques

Earthly Remains was founded in 1983 by Sandy and Jim Kagermeier Sr. After renovating the carriage house behind Jim's architecture firm at their original location (previous home of the Johnson-Bowman Mortuary - hence the name). Earthly Remains started with a qaint general store atmosphere, complete with store fixtures from several prominent businesses that were formerly in town and carries a wide variety of antiques and collectibles.
Getting the opportunity to expand to a much larger place, the store moved to 731 So. Front Street opening in the former Bargain Center building October 11th 1991. Mankato's first antique mall facility, Earthly Remains has largely converted back to single ownership by the Kagermeier's, carrying with them a few special dealers and expanding its operation globally through the on-line world where so much antique business is being done today.

In 2003, Earthly Remains celebrates 20 years of reuniting folks with their memories, furnishing homes and expanding personal collections of all sorts with the vast array of items that have passed through their doors. Sandy and Jim are still very active with the business, largely maintained these days by Jordan & Jessica Kagermeier (Jim's youngest son & his wife). The business continues to grow taking on the challenges of an ever changing marketplace, but still holds its original general store charm on two floors in the historic South Front Street district of downtown Mankato.
